Session 1 Group Introduction and Ground Rules, The Science of Mind Body Medicine, the stress response, allostasis and allostatic load, the relaxation response. In Session Exercise-Body Awareness. Relaxation Response Practice-Single-Pointed Focus Meditation.. Complete Resiliency Questionnaire. Introduce the concept of appreciations, weekly practice note and homework.

Session 2. Stress Awareness and introduce importance of identifying personal stressors and coping resources. Review the science of the stress response and relaxation response.. Explore different ways to elicit the relaxation response, specifically diaphragmatic breathing and simple breath awareness meditation.” In session complete energy battery exercise

Session 3. Introduce the concept of “minis” brief opportunities to elicit the relaxation response. Discuss tendency to focus on negative physical sensations and emotions, discuss language of positive physical sensations. Discuss and introduce the topic of recuperative sleep. In session relaxation exercise: body scan and autogenic training.
Session 4. Introduce Mindful awareness and mindful awareness meditation including mindful eating exercise. Introduce awareness of stress and stress perspectives, including stress linked thoughts, emotions and behaviors, emotions and physical symptoms. Introduce concept of self-care and social supports, in session completion of social support diagram
